NEWS/The Lebanese Designer Zuhair Murad’s Marvelous Makes

Lebanon has given rise to many of the world’s most popular and generation shaping individuals from Shakira to Keeanu Reeves; however, there is no doubt that the most influential person credited for revolutionizing the 21st century Hollywood fashion industry is Lebanon’s very own Zuhair Murad.

Hailed as one of the red carpet’s most famous dresser, Murad began sketching dresses when he was only ten years old in the small town of Baalbek, Lebanon. Murad obtained his degree in Paris just after graduating from high school in Beirut. After a slow rise to fame from being a designer for private clientele more than ten years ago, he has grown drastically in popularity, designing and dressing some of the world’s most famous people; Beyonce Knowles, Jennifer Lopez, and Taylor Swift, just to name a few.

Murad’s designs reflect each season’s moods and the potential beauties hidden behind simple words such as “summer” or “fall.” These words simply mean yet another season has come around from which inspiration can be drawn.

In his latest 2014 Spring-Summer fashion campaign, Murad designed these jumpsuits and dresses among others. The brightly colored simplicity of the fabric combined with the gentle intricacy of the floral laces brings out the spirit of the season. It seems that after many years of repetitive floral patterns, this pattern should have gone out of style years ago; but through his distinct use of these floral inspirations, they lack the label “pattern” and should be more deservingly entitled “unique creations.”

In a sneak peek at this Fall-Winter season’s upcoming designs, it can again be noted that Murad seeks inspiration from the natural world around him, he works these fantasies into an aesthetically beautiful piece which enhances not only the fluidity of one’s movement but also the wonders of the environment during said season. After careful observation of this dress, this “unique creation” seems to resemble leaves piled on top of one another in no distinctly uniform pattern, but rather they appear aux naturale.

No creation is made the same as the inspiration for every piece is distinct in its own manner. With so many designers in the world of fashion who lack a distinctly individual flavor, it is easy to see why Zuhair Muhrad has become one of the most prominent figures in the fashion industry.
