NEWS/Majed Al Mohandes With Carmen Suleiman At Muscat Festival

It has been obvious nowadays the will of the organizers of Muscat Festival is to target more youths, sporting events and live concerts by popular artists. Such ideas have been added to this year's list of events for Muscat Festival. Its launching will take place at Amerat Park and Naseem Gardens on January 23.

On the weekends, live concerts will be held by the winner of Arab Idol's first season, the young Egyptian singer Carmen Suleiman. With her brilliant talent and strong voice, she will surely set the stage and the audience on fire. Her presence will lead the organizers to achieve their target, as Carmen has a large number of fans in Oman. Joining Carmen is Majid Al Mohandes, the very loved artist, especially in the Gulf region at the City amphitheater.

Beside live concerts, the organizers included to the festival a Marathon, 24-hour endurance race, motorcycle race, Middle East Rally Championship, boat races, beach soccer, and freestyle dancing shows and more yet to come. But people were wondering why there would not be a food festival or fashion week this year. Saifsuba Al Rashidi, the general director of information and external relations of Muscat Municipality, has the answer. He said that they postponed the fashion week till next year, as they wanted it to be better prepared. It will be tentatively held in January 2015. Rashidi added that to involve the youth, more sports activities have been added. “Care has been taken to involve participants from different generations, which is unique as it is difficult to find the same kind of involvement from youth in handicraft and culture in other countries of the region.” The Omani Heritage Village and the International Pavilion will be the main attractions at Amerat Park. Artisans from 32 countries will showcase their crafts at the pavilion while artistes from over 13 countries will showcase their national, traditional and folk arts.

According to the official website of the festival, since its first edition in 1998, Muscat Festival has proved to be an entertaining forum in which civilizations come together. Wouldn’t it be nice to take a vacation and spend it in Muscat, capital of Oman, from 23th of January till 9th of February and enjoy such cultural event!
